The numbers for August are in! Diamond Comic Distributors has compiled the data from August and placed into awesome tables for math nerds, like us, to stare and enjoy. Let’s get right down to the numbers.

Marvel Comics is once again the top dog for the month of August.

Included this month, from the folks at Diamond, is a couple of pie charts showing the dollar share and unit share. Check it out in glorious color!

BATMAN continues to stay in the top 3 of the top 10 books. It should also be noted that THE WALKING DEAD #130 makes its way onto the top 10 list.

Normally, the top 10 trade list is dominated by Image, but this month is pretty split between DC, Marvel, and Image, with THANOS: THE INFINITY REVELATION OGN taking the number one spot.

There’s only one item difference between Marvel and DC this month. Here’s what everyone shipped out for August.

How do they calculate this information? It all starts at the comic book shop.

Data for Diamond’s sales charts — which include the monthly market shares and all top product charts — are compiled by Diamond Comic Distributors from a universe of over 3,500 comic book specialty shops located in North America and around the world. The account base includes brick-and-mortar comic book specialty shops, Internet merchants, and other specialty stores.

Unit and dollars sales are calculated based upon orders invoiced and shipped to Diamond accounts during January to December 2013, which comprises initial pre-orders, advance reorders, and reorders, minus any copies that are received back from a title marked as returnable.
